Courtney………. "THE CARIBBEAN KAMAAL"

The great Walsh terror strikes again. Courtney Walsh achieves another landmark and a World Record is shattered. As he captured Henry Olonga’s wicket, Kapil’s record of 434 wickets is broken, a record he held for six years and 45 days. The Jamaican giant is a true gentleman, in today’s cricket when fast bowling is synonymous to abusing and acussing, Walsh showed that it doesn’t take tough talk to be a tough man.

It took 16 years and 114 matches to be on the top, to reach the summit and to capture the World Record. Consistency and Courtney go together………..always full of energy and zeal, he displayed the enthusiasm of a young new comer and the cunning grace of an old master. Courtney or ‘Cuddy’ as known to his team mates does not display great aggressiveness on the field but his spell worked like slow poison getting the batsman with the odd bowl when he least expects it. The fact that he has bowled nearly seventy thousand overs, speaks wonders of his stamina. Walsh made his test debut in Australia at Perth in 1984-85. It took 16 years of hard-work, dedication, determination and a fanatic passion for the game that took him to the top and achieved greatness.

A humble man ..........a lethal bowler....that's Courtney.....a true sportsman......... "GEM OF JAMAICA"
