The
New Pakistani Star
Abdur
Razzaq
At
just 20, Pakistani Abdur Razzaq is definitely proud of
what he has achieved in his past teen years. Born on
December2, 1979, Abdur Razzaq hails from Lahore and as all
know, has made quite a name for him. A right-handed
batsman and a right arm fast medium bowler Razzaq played
for the Lahore city Cricket association.
Initially spotted by Wasim Akram, Razzaq has firmly
established himself in the Pakistani team as a permanent
member. Being an all-rounder, he is indisputably very
vital to the team, both in Tests as well as One-Day
version of the game.
Starting his career in 1996, Razzaq at 16, played an ODI
against Zimbabwe. But, he was never really featured
prominently thereafter. The reason could perhaps be blamed
on poor team management. However, at the World Cup in
England, Razzaq definitely made a mark for himself. People
sat back and took notice. He not only chipped in 170 runs,
but also took 13 wickets. He is a batsman of the dangerous
variety.
Not only is he flowing with hot blood, but he has proved
to be consistent too. He took the man of the series award
in the recent Carlton and United series, where again he
couple up an amazing 225 runs with 14 wickets! Adding to
that is the fact that the 14 wickets consisted of 3
Tendulkar wickets!
Yet, his injury has been a problem with him, which may
hamper the heights he would like to have scaled. All the
same Razzaq is definitely one of the brightest of the
Pakistani stars today.
