I enjoyed bowling at the Oval:
Agarkar
London,
June 30:
All-rounder Ajit Agarkar who took three crucial wickets to help
India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets in the third match of the
Natwest tri-series on Sunday said he enjoyed bowling on the Oval
pitch.
"After bowling at Lord's
yesterday I enjoyed bowling at this pitch. The bounce was
surprising and there was movement also," Agarkar said after
receiving the man-of-the match medal, cheque and a bottle of
champagne.
Skipper Sourav Ganguly was
delighted with that back-to- back wins after the team beat
England in the second match of the series at Lord's yesterday.
"We played pretty well. It is
always tough to play back to back matches," he said.
Ganguly was happy with the form
of his middle-order batsmen who played a big role in the two
wins.
"It's good that our batting is
strong down the order and and we have been trying to do that.
It's a big factor in winning one-day matches," he said.
"The wicket had something to
offer throughout the day, the Oval pitch always has some thing
in it and today the overcast conditions made the ball move
around a bit more," Ganguly said
The skipper however was not
overjoyed and said "with four more matches to go the important
thing is to reach the final."
Sri Lanka captain Sanath
Jayasuriya, whose team has now lost both the matches, was
disappointed with his team's batting.
"In the remaining four matches we
need to bat really well and bowl like today," he said.
"Our batsmen are getting out on
30s and 40s and we cannot afford to do that. Some one has to get
a good score," Jayasuriya said after Sri Lanka wasted a
brilliant start to set India a modest target of 203.
