Kumble a great bowler: Ganguly
Leeds, August 26:
Indian
skipper Sourav Ganguly on Monday attributed the historic victory to
a combined effort from the team while rival England skipper Nasser
Hussain conceded his team was outplayed. "It was a very good team
effort," an exultant Ganguly said after the win.
Hussain said: “All credit to the
Indians. They handled the conditions better than we did."
Ganguly admitted it had been a tough
decision to bat first on a wicket that behaved treacherously but
said the team did well to overcome the odds. "It was a big decision
to bat first... But I had the confidence of having the best batsmen
in the world (in our ranks)."
Ganguly chose to praise his bowlers
profusely for their collective effort. "We got them (England) out
early in the first innings and we bowled well in the second innings
too. Anil Kumble is a great bowler -- there is just one word that
can describe him -- great.
"Kumble bowled well alongwith
Harbhajan. Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan also bowled well in tandem.
Zaheer bowled splendidly. In fact he looked like taking a wicket
every ball," he said.
