Ganguly alright as of now: Nair

Chennai, October 20: Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly, who injured his back after colliding with Anil Kumble during the fourth day's play in the second Test against West Indies here today, "is alright as of now" but may have to undergo an MRI scan, Cricket Board secretary S K Nair said.

"Ganguly is having acute back pain. He was given the best medical attention in the stadium. As of now, everything is alright," Nair told reporters.

"So far Ganguly has not been advised to undergo an MRI scan, but if need be he may have to undergo one," he said.

Ganguly collided with Kumble when both went for a catch offered by Pedro Collins in the deep mid-wicket region and had to be taken out on a stretcher.

While addressing the post-match press conference after taking two injections, Ganguly had said he would later undergo an MRI scan.
