| We’ll
do well in Lanka says Ganguly
Mumbai, September 11: Describing
India's just concluded trip to England as the "best overseas
tour in the last six years," skipper Sourav Ganguly was confident
of his team's success in the ICC Champions Trophy in Colombo.
"We
have been winning one-day matches and I can't think why we should
not do well in the Champions Trophy," Ganguly said after the
team arrived here in the early hours on Wednesday.
On
India's chances of winning the trophy in Colombo in the Sept 12
to 29 tournament, Ganguly said, "We will worry about it when
we reach Colombo. As of now the players need rest.
"We
have been travelling for the last 24 hours and I would not like
to say anything more about the Champions Trophy now."
Regarding
the solution of the ICC's controversial sponsorship issue where
the international body accepted the Indian players' proposal at
the last minute, Ganguly said: "It was not a victory for anybody
and we are happy the matter was settled."
Reviewing
the performance in England, he rated it as India's best overseas
performance in the last six years. "All in all it was a very
good tour as we saw players like Md Kaif and Dinesh Mongia in one-dayers
and Bangar in the Test series come of age," he said.
