Waqar describes Inzamam as the best in the world

Manchester, England, June 4: Pakistan captain Waqar Younis described team mate Inzamam-ul-Haq as the best player in the world after their 108-run victory over England in the second test on Monday.

"I think we really deserved to win," Waqar said. "We worked really hard. Especially Inzy, he's probably the best player in the world at the moment."

Man-of-the-match Inzamam made 114 and 85 in a match which ended with off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq taking four wickets in a marathon spell as England's batting collapsed for the second time in the game, their last man being dismissed with 6.5 overs of the final day remaining.

"It was an amazing final session," said Waqar. "Saqlain never said 'no' to me, even though he was bowling into the wind. He was brilliant, magic."

He also had words of praise for Wasim Akram, a man he fell out with two years ago after accusing him of wrecking his career by keeping him out of the team.

Wasim, in his last test in England at his 'second home' after playing for English county Lancashire at Old Trafford for more than a decade, took two wickets in the second innings on Monday, including that of centurion Marcus Trescothick.

"Wasim really wanted to finish well here because this is his home ground," Waqar said. "He didn't want to go out a loser."
