Giant
clock to be installed at the Eden
Kolkata,
January 13: When Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and his England
counterpart Nasser Hussain walk upto the middle for the toss in the first
match of the limited overs series at the Eden Gardens, they can hardly
miss the new addition at the historic ground -- a giant clock.
The
clock, to be set atop the electronic scoreboard, will solve a big problem
for the players who have often found it difficult to keep track of time in
the absence of a clock big enough to be seen from the middle of the
ground.
Realising
the problem of the cricketers, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has
decided to install the clock for the first one-dayer at the Eden Gardens
on January 19.
The CAB
has no plans of making it a permanent addition atop the scoreboard but
will only install the giant clock during the international matches.
"It
will not be a permanent thing, but we will install it during every one-day
international and Test match," a top CAB official said.
The Eden
Gardens, which has witnessed many thrilling cricket matches for years
together, currently has two small clocks on either side of the electronic
scoreboard.
