Dream come true for Kerala speedster

Mohali, December 3: It was a "dream come true" for Kerala fast bowler Tinu Yohannan who not only got an India cap on Monday but also claimed a wicket in the very first over of his Test career.

Soft-spoken but confident Yohannan admitted he was nervous going into the match but "the wicket in the first over relaxed me".

"I just wanted to concentrate on my line and length and that's what I did. That is what (captain Sourav) Ganguly had also told me to do," Yohannan, who is the first bowler from his state to represent India, said after the day's play.

Asked how he felt on being picked for the national side after playing less than ten first class matches for his state, Yohannan replied, "I was picked by the selectors because I was bowling well."

Meanwhile, Yohannan was picked up for special mention by England opener Marcus Trescothick who found him the "most difficult Indian bowler today".

Trescothick was "quite disappointed" to see his side crumble after being in a comfortable position at lunch. Trescothick, who along with his skipper Nasser Hussain, put on 125 runs for the second wicket, blamed the collapse to the lack of experience in the side.

"After being somewhere around 110 for one at lunch, it was really disappointing that we were all out for 238. That is something which we have to work on, an area we have to address pretty quickly," Trescothick said.

The English batsman said his team was banking on the early morning help from the pitch for the bowlers tomorrow morning. "I am told the pitch does a bit in the morning on all the days and our team is looking forward to it."

The opener was all praise for Harbhajan Singh, who completed his fifth five-wicket haul on Monday, but did not agree to suggestions that his side was bogged down by the tremendous reputation of the off-spinner.

"We have handled (Muthiah) Muralitharan (of Sri Lanka) and Saqlain (Mushtaq of Pakistan) in the team's previous two tours to this part of the world. There is no reason why we can't come back against Harbhajan. But then there is no denying the fact he is a world-class bowler," he said.
