McGrath
joins 350 club
Leeds,
England, August 18: Australia
fast bowler Glenn McGrath took his 350th Test wicket as England were
bowled out for 309 on the third day of the fourth Ashes Test here at
Headingley on Saturday.
McGrath
finished the innings with figures of 30.2-9-76-7.
The
31-year-old from New South Wales has now taken 350 wickets in 74
Tests at an average of 21.28, claiming five wickets in an innings 21
times.
He
reached the 350 landmark when he had England number eleven Alan
Mullally caught by Simon Katich at short leg for nought. It had
taken McGrath just 10 Tests to move from 300 to 350 wickets.
A
delighted McGrath said: "It's great to get past goals or
milestones but 356 and Dennis Lillee is even more important. That's
my next personal goal."
McGrath
remains in third place in Australia's list of leading Test
wicket-takers, five behind Australia fast bowling great Lillee, who
took 355 wickets in 70 Tests at an average of 23.92.
But
leg-spinner Shane Warne, playing in this match, is well ahead of
both of them on 395.
