London, August 26: Australia's Mark Waugh needed stitches to a hand injury sustained while fielding during the fourth day of the fifth and final Ashes Test here at The Oval on Sunday, his team announced.

Waugh had three stitches inserted in the webbing between the fourth and fifth fingers of his right hand, an Australia spokesman said.

England were 40 for one and still 169 runs behind Australia's 641 for four declared after being made to follow on here at The Oval on Sunday where bad light then stopped play.

Australia have an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-Test series.
