Mark Waugh equals world record for catches

London, July 20: Australian Mark Waugh equalled the world record for test catches by a fielder on Thursday on the opening day of the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

Waugh caught Mark Butcher for 21 at second slip off pace bowler Glenn McGrath to reduce England to 75 for two during the final session of the rain-affected day.

The dismissal gave Waugh 157 Test catches, level with former Australian captain Mark Taylor.

Waugh reached the mark in his 113th test, while Taylor played 104.
