Hand injuries jeopardising my
career: Hussain
London,
July 15:
England captain Nasser Hussain fears his career could be under
threat if he continues to sustain finger injuries.
Hussain
is out for two-and-a-half weeks with a broken little finger on his
left hand, the latest in a string of hand injuries which have
sidelined him in the last two years.
"Much
more of this and I will be up there in the commentary box
full-time," he was quoted as saying by the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
"I
have to accept that if these breaks keep occurring there is going to
be a problem."
Hussain
broke a finger in the 1999 Lord's Test against New Zealand, missed
the 2000 Lord's Test against the West Indies after breaking a thumb
playing for Essex and broke a thumb in the Lord's Test against
Pakistan in May this year.
"I
saw a specialist last week to undergo Tests to see if there is any
brittleness in the bones. One way or another, it is a worry,"
he added.
Hussain
is out of the second Ashes Test against Australia at Lord's which
starts on Thursday and faces a race to be fit for the third Test at
Trent Bridge starting on August 2.
