London, July 12: England pace bowler Matthew Hoggard has been ruled out of the second Ashes test against Australia.

Hoggard has a left foot injury and has been advised to rest for 10 days.

Australia won last week's first test by an innings and 118 runs. The 24-year-old Hoggard, who has played in two tests, was included in a 14-man squad for that match at Edgbaston but not selected in the starting line-up.

The second test at Lord's begins next Thursday.
