England 121/4 at stumps in the second
Ashes Test against Australia
London,
July 19: England were reduced to 121 for four at stumps
following interruptions for rain, bad light in the second npower
Ashes Test at Lord's here on Thursday.
Resuming at 95 for two before play was stopped, McGrath captured the
prized wicket of Atherton, having him leg before without adding to
his total. He had been at the crease for more than two hours but his
dismissal reduced England to 96 for three after 31 overs.
Then
England lost Butcher, who made 21 including four boundaries before
misjudging a delivery from Glenn McGrath and edged the ball to Mark
Waugh at second slip.
Earlier, play resumed at 1655 GMT after bad light had stopped the
rain-interrupted first day of the second Ashes Test between England
and Australia here at Lord's on Thursday.
Australian pace bowler Jason
Gillespie dismissed England opener Marcus Trescothick for 15 as the
tourists struck the first blow after lunch.
Trescothick swung at
Gillespie's ball with little foot movement and nicked it behind to
wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist.
However, television replays
showed that the delivery should have been given as a no-ball because
Gillespie overstepped the crease.
Mark Butcher followed
Trescothick into the pavilion after tea having made 21, an outside
edge carrying into the grateful hands of Mark Waugh off Glenn
McGrath's delivery.
