Australians
dressing room burgled
London,
August 10: Australian
cricketers turning up at Hove's county ground on Friday for the
final day of their tour match against Sussex had a nasty surprise
their dressing room had been burgled.
Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne raised the alarm and Sussex Police
were called to the southern England county's headquarters. In all
1,200 pounds (1,764 dollars) of equipment including bats, helmets,
training shirts, sunglasses and books signed by Warne, was stolen.
Sussex operations manager, Hugh Griffiths said: "We were
honoured to have got a fixture with the Australian Test team and
we've spent nine months preparing the ground to welcome them.
"We're highly disappointed that this match has been marred by
last night's burglary and we appeal to cricket fans to help
us."
Detective Superintendent Ray Scales of Sussex Police said: "We
are appealing to Hove residents and cricket fans to give us
information about the burglary. These items have clearly been stolen
to sell."
