Sameer is a new wicket keeper to the Indian side who made his debut at the age of 31 when he was included in the Indian squad for the Australian tour in 1999/00. His selection was one of the most controversial decision by the selectors in recent times that came under major scrutiny from the media. Sameer’s performance in Australian tour was average where he took seven catches and one stump. Though he is a heavy scorer of runs in the domestic cricket, he did not show much of his bat during the Australian tour.
