Rahul Sanghvi is an
orthodox spinner of the ball who keeps the run hungry batsmen on the
leash. This quality helped him in getting into the national team but he
was dropped as promptly as was picked. He was then forgotten for more than
two years. However, the left arm spinner from Delhi has always adopted a
never say die approach. A string of notable performances for Delhi and
North Zone saw him back in contention for the Indian cap when he was
picked among the 25 probables for the series against Australia. His best
bowling figures have notched up against Zimbabwe in the tri series in
India in 1998. Sanghvi, who learnt the finer points of the art from Bishen
Singh Bedi, has all the attributes - line, length, control of turn and
flight and enough variety - to command a regular place in the national
side.
