Dravid!!
The perfect
one down for India
Dravid
bats at number three in the order, where a level head and sturdy
technique is vitally important. However, considered unsuitable for
the ODI’s, Dravid became an out east, needed only when his
country played tests.
Dravid
missed up to almost half of the ODI games his country played
during 1998. “He slows down the run-rate, cannot be fitted in
the XI and hence cannot be in the team,” was the official line.
Dravid then, reassessed his game and worked on his game and worked
on his flow – he used to look at the fielders when he should be
concentrating on the gaps. He slowly gets to the nets and
transformed himself and became a player more fluid with tempo of
ODI cricket. His 190 and 103 in the second test against New
Zealand signaled a new phase in Dravid‘s development.
In
fact, this 26 year old scored the most runs in this world cup, 461
off 545 balls with a strike rate of 84.59. Dravid is thus known,
as a well-balanced, modest individual, and his achievement in the
recent World cup are a testament to his perseverance and
dedication.
His
performance in Australia was below par and off late he
has not been making many runs. But he is too good a batsman
to be in bad form for long and everyone hope he returns
to his earlier form.
